Budowniczymi kamiennych kręgów i kurhanów kamienno-ziemnych na cmentarzysku w Węsiorach byli Goci. Lud ten przybył ze Skandynawii i Pomorze zasiedlił na początku naszej ery.
Badania archeologiczne pod kierunkiem dr Jerzego Kmiecińskiego (1956) pozwoliły na ustalenie daty założenia cmentarzyska na lata 70.i 80. n.e., natomiast ostatnie pochówki pochodzą z III w. n.e.
Od innych cmentarzysk cmentarzysko w Węsiorach odróżniają pochówki szkieletowe w kamiennych , które wg archeologów, stanowiły miejsce spotkań i wieców, a nie pochówków.
Na terenie Pomorza tego typu lub podobnych cmentarzysk gockich zlokalizowano około 50. Najbardziej znane to oczywiście Węsiory i Odry, mniej znane i nie zawsze oznakowane to Grzybnica, Trądkownice, Siemirowice, Unieszynko, Oblewice, Buszkowy, Lublewo ….
Wokół kamiennych kręgów narosło dużo legend i mitów o rzekomej mocy i magii w tych miejscach, rozpowszechnianych przez pasjonatów i badaczy amatorów.
Podczas tegorocznego urlopu odwiedziłam cmentarzysko w Węsiorach i przyznać muszę, że zrobiło na mnie duże wrażenie. A i mini-barek serwujący gorące potrawy, chlebek wg kaszubskiej receptury i chłodne napoje dodały uroku wycieczce.
